Arrow 2009 Track Bike Picture Post
I closed the 2008 track bike picture thread to start a new one for the 2009 track season.

Anyone who has a dedicated track bike for 2009, post up some pics and tell us about the bike!

Can't say that I'm really ready for racing yet. I need my transponder to show up, and I've got a couple of little bits to install. For sure, I'm looking forward to getting back out to the track!

When are you going to setup a bike for the track, Daniel?

Its not done. Forks are getting sent off to get Ohlins installed...number plates etc...and a few other minor things. But its 97% done.

Oh, I got the upper/lower for like 80 bucks. Its rough and doesnt look good in person. But, itll do.

Wheels will be green too. Im going to redo this one, and make it all green. Didnt have time to mount it.

Yea Duane, don't bother trying on any of your gear. Just buy it off the shelf and head straight for the track. It is much smarter to hope it all fits and feels comfortable.

Geez Duane, the only thing more squidly would be if you put Jake Rower's hard earned number on the windscreen of your street bike and then stand next to it... "kick-standing it".

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!

Here's my RS125...put it together early last year and got to ride it a whopping twice. Hopefully this year I'll get more time on it.

I've got a second one in the garage stripped of all the cool stuff to put onto this one. Stuffed in the back of the garage is also a 1990 FZR400 set up for track work. I'll try to dig it out later to get some pics.

They're actually not that expensive to run. Top ends for a hundred bucks or so, tires last forever, crash damage is minimal since they're so light - only expensive parts are the cranks but someone in KY found a way to rebuild them instead of buying new so even that cost is coming down. Just the cost savings from the tires alone make up for the top ends every couple races. They're certainly not gas and go but I found it to be cheaper than putting together an SV650 race bike. I've seen some 95+ models go for less than 4K. Where else you gonna get a true GP machine for that kind of money. Plus the feeling of being connected to such a small machine is incredible. It literally feels like an extension of your body with the way it corners. Found myself braking and turning in way too early when I first hopped on the thing.

Shit man stop teasin! I'm set on racing supermoto this year.

The lack of interest/equipment for a cheap yet fun class to race is a bit surprising. SV650's are not quite that, 450mono didn't really take off, Moriwaki bike is pretty spendy. Only the new Aprilias and old GP 2-strokes left, and grids are small..

Speaking in terms of $$, it may be interesting to see what the future of the Kawasaki 250's might be in these times.

450 mono's sound like a trick bike, but when you look at converting one for the track.....yikes. (At least for me).

Road Racing World has had several encouraging articles, and sounds like they are doing several more on the build-up of the 250's for the track. Could be a great race bike on a budget.

Whoops, back to pictures!

I posted this in the Supermoto post, but it's one of my WMRRA race bikes so it needs to be here. I will be at every WMRRA event, and I might even ride at all of them. Depending on how well I am doing in the points, of course.

Just as in real life.

the ducati has been gone since august. a lot of that money actually helped finance the rebuilding of the track bike.

once again, a pnw'er is concerned with my (dont worry, you're like the sixth one). if you're really that interested, send me a PM...
