So that's not the case anymore then, eh? What was it like before? What did you have to do? Or could you even get into a bar? I've always been curious but never got around to finding out. |

"On March 9, 2009, Huntsman, the mostly conservative Mormon state legislature, and the Church of Latter Day Saints reached a landmark deal to eliminate the private club law in Utah. The old law, still in effect until July 1, 2009, stated that bars and drinking establishments must operated as private clubs open only to members and guests. Member names were kept on file at the establishment, and they were allowed to “sponsor” a select number of guests. Out of town visitors could buy a temporary membership, usually between $5 and $10, effectively making it easier to enter a pub in Utah than it is to go into a bar with a cover charge in other states." Shit, or not: "Under the new deal, bars in Utah will no longer require memberships. Instead, all bars will be required to scan the IDs of anyone under age 35." Holy Big Brother! Luckily I'll be cruising up from Vegas and camping, so F 'em, it'll be a BYOB affair. Last edited by KCander; 07-01-2009 at 10:00 AM.. |

We invaded one of the local bars and pretty much quadrupled the number of clientel they had. One guy bought a "membership" for the year and sponsored the rest of us. We were also able to smoke in the bar. |

I'm DYING to ride Moab, but I probably won't be able to go there until this fall at the earliest, most likely not til next year. My buddy is hauling us up to ride around near someplace called Enterprise I guess? We're hauling the bikes up from Vegas, just across the Utah border. Ever been there? Got any tips? |

Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more. either the saint don't read their proverbs, or they don't know how to think stay out of utah if you want a strong drink. any town bordering utah should have a hefty supply of 5% beer, not that crappy 3.2% stuff. (everyone is saying 4%, but last I heard it was 3.2%....) 2 years in Southern Idaho...it was like living in utah, but with real beer. Last edited by koorbloh; 07-01-2009 at 02:47 PM.. |
