Reiter Saturday 10/24/09
My brother is in town this week, and we're doing a shakedown run at Reiter on Saturday. He's getting used to a new (big, heavy) bike, so it'll probably be a fairly tame ride. Not noob friendly but noob completable.

I have a hitch carrier I could lend you for the day, but you'd have to come get it and drop it off in seattle.

Can you post when/where are you going to start? I don't know if I could but would love to join you guys.

BTW does anyone know if it's possible to cross the stream now if going down the sand hill? There was a caution tape there last weekend so we decided to just turn back..

Is there anyone that I could meet up with somewhere and follow out here, I'd be coming from S. Tacoma. I've never been to Reiter but would like to ride this weekend. I am new to trail riding and just got my CRF250x a month ago.

Pete,
Reiter is DNR land near goldbar (hwy 2)that is supposed to become an ORV area like Tahuya (or Burnt Hill). It has a reputation for some of the toughest trails in the state, although PA has some tough-ass trails too when its wet.
I haven't made a trip over there yet, I figure if I'm gonna drive a couple hours, I'll ride naches or gifford... (this weekend we're riding saddle mountain... thats gonna be a long drive...)

Its got everything from tight technical single track, river crossings, hill climbs, quad/ 4x4 trials, fast flowy singletrack, etc. If you do go, try and meet up with someone that knows the area. The trails aren't marked at all! Not sure if its worth the drive when you have Tahuya in your backyard, but if you're gonna be in the area anyway might as well bring the bike.

I just read Reiter is going to close on Nov. 2nd in order for DNR to begin converting it to an ORV park with campsites, new trails, etc. Did anyone go to the meeting tonight in monroe? I'm curious as to what trails are going to get shut down for good.

This will be your last weekend to enjoy reiter in the current state it is in cause effect nov 2nd it is closed!!!!!! and after going to the reiter planning meet last night in monroe it's becoming a fraction of the size it now is.

Red will be off limits to ORV and the little yellow section is what they want to give us and I tell you now the 4x4's have the DNR's ear.

that's both fortunate and unfortunate as the yellow areas are where i spend most of my time up there, the downside is that with the other areas closing it will certainly bring a lot more bikes and quads into a much smaller area of land, leaving a larger footprint, exposing a lot of the more secluded trail systems and ultimately widening and destroying most of the well maintained single track trails.. bummer.....

america, fuck yeah... commin in to save the muthafuckin day..... this country is going in the shitter.

There's next weekend too. Also think about putting SM wheels or at least getting road tires for your X and trying out Pacific GP supermoto.

I'll be there if I can put any of my bikes together enough to ride tonight.

Well, saw a bunch of cars at the gas station at Monroe, then saw same cars including black blazer up the road with a bunch of people around them but they said they don't have anything to do with pnwriders. Good ride anyway, first time on trials tire and yea it is everything it's hyped to be. Just when we started to get a handle on what's where at Reiter, it's all over :/

haha.. right as i recognized you i looked at matt and said, i think that's dakh.... then i heard someone else say "no, we have no affiliation with pnwriders" but i think matt and at least two others thought you said bmw riders club or something like that.. but i did see you on the trail a few times, a few seconds here and there anyways..... you actually surprised me, i thought you would've be a lot slower and retarded looking when you ride.. you've definitely improved.. so, you know..... good job.

Yeah, my coworker on the Husky (who isn't on PNW) thought you were asking about a BMW riders group, so when we saw you at the bottom of the rocky uphill I automatically heard BMW again. My bad.
