Hey Nails,

Please come. We are doing a cruise pace. If there are going to be riders that want to go fast, we can split into the two groups.

If you're talking about taking Lucia Falls Road from the Heisson area through Yacolt, it's clear after the chip seal that they did in a whole bunch of patches, but it's not really all that fun to ride on. (I did it tonight as I have a friend that lives in Yacolt).

I'd imagine you already know this, but just in case thought I might mention it.

Home, safe & sound.

The lecture/tounge lashing from the Skamania sherrif was something that I could have done without, but not surprising.

It's a bummer we got fagmented after the "one gas pump @ cougar, no gas in Northwoods" scenario. In hindsight, we should have asked at Cougar if Northwoods did have gas, and we should have just waited it out and all filled up in Cougar.

Windy ridge was some awesome scenery. The first 1/3 to bear Meadow was great as always. The 2nd 1/3 was pretty good. I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10 as far as debris. The last 1/3 was kinda sketchy in many parts, but those were easy to avoid and as long as you were taking it chill, it wasn't that much of an issue, and the view of the lake and mountain was totally worth it.

I was a little frustrated with the 636. It was "chugging" on me intermittantly (which started on Thursday but only in 6th gear at low RPM). Today the chugging was all the way down to 2nd & 3rd gear and was happening in the middle of the RPM range.

I think we got it figured out when we realized that my battery was unhappy (when the bike wouldn't start at Bear Meadow!) Running it on Low beam the rest of the day and rallying the RPM's seems to have helped as I'm well above 13 volts with the bike off. And I'm at 14.7 with the low beam on. One thing I noticed is that the running voltage at idle dropped a whole volt (down to 13.7) when I switched the high beam on. So maybe with the high beam on, it just wasn't able to keep up as well as I liked. I'm thinking it's very likely that the Fuel Injection not getting enough voltage may have been the source of the "chugging" which was probably misfiring. I guess I'll check the battery in the morning and see how it's holding up; and go from there.

Thanks again to the rider that was 2-up on the liter bike that helped me get my bike push started. Not sure what I was doing wrong, but you had the magic touch. Also, can you PM me? (wanted to follow up on something with you offline...)

Also looking forward to seeing if the video we took comes out. That should rock!

I hope everyone had a great time, and hopefully we surmounted the confusion for the mostpart and everyone enjoyed their day.

-Trayson

I had a great time. And I have to say it was an awesome sight to see all what 18-20 bikes heading up to cougar all together. I can't believe I didn't take a single picture Yeah some confusion at Cougar for sure with just the one pump working. I and others heard someone saying gas in Randle so when the first group left Cougar thats where we headed. Ginny and I were together and the guys were up front...and evidently turned off...but Ginny and I didnt know where, didn't see any riders so we kept going to Randle. By that time we needed gas Kory showed up to save the day and we 3 rode back the same way we came....then thru Cougar, Amboy and home again... 218 miles. Thanks for everything Kory and Ginny Glad to hear you all made it home safe and sound. Sorry we couldn't finish the ride with ya'll.

I saw Cory heading out to Randle to "save the day" when we were just heading up Forest Road 99. As you can tell from my "review" of 99 up to windy ridge, the scenery is absolutely breathtaking and now that it's open all the way to the top, you need to make it a priority to get back up there this summer. The curves on 99 are hella fun!

Glad you had a great time. And I'm sure you're also glad that you didn't have to attend the LECTURE from the Skamania sheriff that we got at the pine creek ranger station where ***I*** was singled out as "persona non-grata" by Mr. Sheriff! But, no blood no foul!

Great ride, sorry we got split up. I know there's gas in Northwoods, but that 2000 gallon tank was bone dry. My bad. Kory, Ginny and Cindy sorry about that...but at least you got to see Randle. We ended up with 7 going up from the Ranger station to Windy Ridge and back. 249 miles of sweet, sweet roads. Good trip and very glad everyone made it home safe. Good to meet all the peeps I hadn't met before.

MOAR PICS PLEASE!

I came late to the party(rolled by Krispy Kreme @11:45 but thanks to the fuel Misunderstanding, I caught up to the group at the Ranger Station. We Had a Fun Ride with a smaller group of guys (Dave, Jeff, Galen, Matt, Armand, and Kevin) up to windy ridge and back, great pace Galen!

We arrived back at cougar with our tongues hangin' out! We're all going to like babies tonight!

It was a good day! There was a little confusion, but everyone kept it rubber side down, and got some good riding in. Now that I think about it, it probably would'a helped if I had waited at the turn off for the Northwoods gas, although I didn't know where that station was before today.

Nice to meet some more of you Portland peeps.

Thanks Corey and Ginny for puttin' the ride on and taking us all up to Cougar. Yeah, the fuel thing turned into a little bit of a headache, but all in all I think it worked out for the best splitting up into smaller groups. Cindy, Ginny, you two rocked those ninja's all the way to Randle for fuel?!? Bumpy, wasn't it? Glad to hear you two had a good time all out on yer own

So Jeff, Armond and me got good practice running two and from Cougar and the Ranger Station/northwoods hunting for fuel. Our group of seven turned out great, and we had a blast rolling up to Windy Ridge and back. I'm really glad we all had a good time and made it home safe. There's always some fun with the chaos!

Even though some folks got a good chewing out by the Skamania PD, at least no tickets were handed out. That, to me, is amazing. Skamania usually operates its PD like some other country... whew!

Here's some pix I snapped.

Bear Meadows lookout on 99:

Two lovely Thundercats

The end spot of Windy Ridge:

Kevin and me were the only ones crazy enough to climb the stairs!!

The parking lot, from above

Yeah, a lot of stairs! (and that's not even all of them)

Great ride, great roads, great weather, great people! Thanks everyone for making this an awesome Sunday!

Well looks like I missed a fun ride...Would have been there but the sandman sprinkled too much dust on me last night.

Still took advantage of the weather and went up to Lucia Falls/Moulton Falls area. Found myself at some camp ground in the middle of nowhere on a gravel road. I went a half mile down the road to see where the gravel ended and couldn't see an end. So pulled a uee and headed home. Did about 50 miles.

Glad you all made it home safe!
