Sunday July 5th ride
Thought about a ride Sunday, 4 to 5 hour max starting late morning early afternoon (you know some of you will be hung over ) Either the carson cougar loop or maybe up to Mount St. Helens, anybody game ?

Im in...

Maybe we could do a cougar to half way to carson and back through cougar loop.
- the back side of the mountains down through carson and stevenson will be HOT - HOT - HOT.

...just sayin'

But either way, sounds like a good way to spend a Sunny Sunday.

(I might even be able to talk my fwb into going... she actually asked me take her for a ride on the bike this weekend... first time that's happened in like 3 years)

Start time? location?

Hmmmm, Mt. St. Helens by the 25 side to windy ridge maybe? I'm thinking about it, but I really want to head up that way this weekend.

Independence Bike Show
Hear is a link to the bike show. "Bike Show" in Independence on July 5th.

Thanks for the kind words Jason. Stringcheese and I spoke earlier today about a ride up thru Cougar and take 25 instead of looping over to Carson, leaving at 10:00 AM

But supporting a fellow PNWR bike show sound intersting also. The bike show is from 10:00 to 2:00. Weigh in folks on which way you would like to spend your Sunday

Either one sounds good to me...
( i know, i'm no help! )
25 to 99 does sound hella good though.

where is independance???

- hmmmm corvalis / albany region... that sounds like hella long slab session down I-5. I mean that's cool, haven't been to a bike show in a loooonng time, but just so everybody is aware.

EDIT: oh wait, a bike show... that would mean I'd have to wash my bike!!!

Think the consensus is taking 25 up to Windy Ridge On the way back there's going to be a lot of campers coming home from the rec area, but we should have a fantastic time on the way up. Never been past bear meadow so I'm really looking forward to this

Bluetick, come on with us. No one has been on this road for a couple of years because it's been closed so nobody will be railing it I don't think. At least I won't be. (maybe a little on the way back after one pass ).

I wouldn't mind a bike show, but I don't want to spend that much time on the freeway. Just my .02

I was kinda hoping for a bit of a later start time, but I can deal with whatever the group is down for.

If we end up with a turnout that had a mix of riding styles (i.e. a moderate group and a quick group), I'd be happy to lead the quick group. I'm very familar with the area, and I've been wanting to hit Windy since they've FINALLY got it open again. That's gonna be SO nice. I'm sure it'll be a madhouse with slow moving cars and what-not, but whatever, I can deal.

My opinion is that if you have varried abilities; there's not a darn thing wrong with a little "divide and concour", and having 2 groups.

There's plenty of natural 'regroup' spots. Cougar, the ranger station at the 99/25 junction. Bear meadow viewpoint possibly (around 7 miles up towards windy ridge on 99 where it was previously closed to that point), then of course at windy ridge itself.

I'm thinking that in the straights, it's be asking for trouble on a holiday weekend if the pace was too agressive... I don't need another ticket.

IMO everyone is welcome. I'm not gonna be railing it, the road just opened so who knows what the conditions are? Let's all go and have a great time. I'm sure we'll plan to stop at all the turns and keeping the rider behind you in sight. Nobody should feel like they're holding up the group, I don't care how long I have to wait for someone, doesn't bother me a bit. I'd rather wait 5 or 10 minutes than help pick you up or drag your bike from the ditch. If someone else gets upset they have to wait for me they're welcome not to ride with me.

Sounds perfect. My little 70hp bike doesn't like straights any ways lol. Just corners. I'm not fast, maybe quick. Hope I'm sober when I wake up. I'm definately drinking tonight.

, because it always takes way longer than 5 or 10 minutes to drag a bike out of a ditch and figure out a trailer situation to get it home!

Just kidding.

I'm all about everyone riding within their safety evelope.

Hey Cindy,

String Cheese nailed it, it is about the ride and watching each others back. If we have a group that wants to rip it up, we can break into a couple groups. I personally have not rode this route so I will be in the cruising mode.

I don't ride naked!

You better bring your hung over a** out tomorrow. I've even got my trailer ready in case you get worried about your tire edges.

I dunno man. Sounds like there's going to be plenty of people on this ride that are interested in a moderate pace.

Don't let my excitement to enjoy windy ridge deter you, I'm friendly, I promise.

Dido. If my friend comes, she's not fast at all, she's barley not new anymore far as I know. I only get spirited in the corners. Last thing I ever want to do is anger another rider or forum member. Never pass unless its a long straight, and all the cops will keep the speed down too. Not that I've even seen one this weekend....wierd. Were just joshin each other and it def not a race. Specially on my low hp bike lol.
