Want to borrow 22mm Hex BIT
Does anyone have a 22mm hex bit that I could borrow? I need to take off my front wheel and it seems that I need a hex bit, and my stupid harbor freight set only goes up to 17mm. And the tool kit that came with my 636 doesn't seem to have that tool in it.

7/8 is also pretty darn close, and MIGHT work in a pinch, but might just be a hair too big...

Something that would attach to a 1/2 or 3/8 drive would be wonderful.

I live in Salmon Creek and work in Downtown Vancouver, so anywhere close to either would work...

I wish I had one for you, although, not in my extensive tool selection.

An option for you might need to find an alternative.

I have used bolts and 2 nuts locked on the threads of the bolt for a hex wrench, Turned by socket or wrench.

Good luck.

I found one that I can buy on ebay...

but that doesn't help me get it off by end of day on Monday...

I'll see what Vancouver Bolt has for nuts tomorrow, but I'd think that another Kawi owner might have one that I could borrow for a quick removal...

Ahhh, thanks for the tip. I have a friend at work that has a BMW and does wrenching on his own bikes. And he lives about 5 minutes from me...

I'm definitely gonna order up something like this as a long term solution... But I wanna get that wheel off soon so I can drop it off for a tire change, and I leave town for a few days on Wed; so wanna get cracking before then.

I gots one of these, but it'd be a little tough to get down to you tonight. Why don't you contact the local outlets to ask about one? Them be made by MotionPro.

Hey Tray,

I've got two, you're welcome to borrow one for a couple days...

Cycle Gear in vancouver also has em' (so does pro screwyouover-iber)
...the're about $20 for the alloy ones or 35 for the steel.

They have all 3 of the common sizes on one plug so they work on pretty much all bikes.

I'll let you know if I need it.

I went over to Vancouver Bolt today and got a Nut with a 22mm head, and then got two matching nuts that I could use as "jam nuts". a pair of $1 bills got me that setup.

I think that I'll probably be able to make that work tonight... If not, I'll keep ya in mind. I think in the long run I'll either get the one you mentioned, or I'll grab one off ebay...

I would if I could weld...

Actually, if I could weld, I'd weld a 1/2" drive on the end.

Just squish some JB Weld between the jam nuts, and align their flats. If it doesn't work, you're out $2?

Yeah, cuz when you put the sucker back on, you have to torque it to like 90 lb-ft !!!!
(at least on my 12 anyhow, your 6 may be different)

Thanks all. I used the 22mm bolt and nut that I spent $2 on, and was just able to make it work with some creativity and my impact gun.

Then I gave the nut/bolt to my friend tonight and he'll return it by the weekend welded together.

The chromoly tool should be the less expensive one; MotionPro decided to market the aluminum tool as "lightweight." If it wasn't for the deal that I got on the aluminum tool, I would have gone for chromo. Really, what is a little bit of weight in your toolbox?

My R6 has a hollow axle with internal hex on one side, and a bolt on the other. I don't need to put much force on the hex tool, because the bolt is what gets torqued. A fair amount of the torquing pressure gets sucked up by the weight of the wheel.

... not to mention that my torque wrench is 26" long and weighs almost six pounds:

IMO always better to have the PROPER tool for the job. Bad tools strip hardware and just makes it a bigger nightmare.
