I am kinda surprised you didnt take the obvious answer. Having a buddy's dog over a day or two will keep the cats away... the smell of the dog usually is a strong deterrent. If they start to come back, have the dog over again for a day.

Yup. Jaguar is ALWAYS available to chase. and he LOVES chasing cats. He struggles a little with cornering, but his acceleration and straight line speed is amazing!

By the way, this is an awesome thread. WAY too entertaining. The bleeding heart liberals around here never fail to amaze. if you can't take proper care of a pet, don't f'ing get one! And certainly don't get upset with a person's attempts at conserving his/her own f#@king property! A wild cat is the same as a gopher, squirrel, possum, etc. And they deserve the same HUMANE treatment as those critters. I applaud you for doing what you need to do to conserve your property humanely.

Also, what else do wild animals do? SPREAD DISEASE! Does anybody actually think that the "owners" of these cats care enough to take them to the damn vet? Ummmmm......me thinks not.

Good luck Gus, keep the trapped cat pics coming

Out of curiousity, how are these cats getting into your home? If you're waking up and finding them laying about inside your house it sounds like you need to either close your doors/windows (or have screens on them) or check the walls/attic to make sure they're secure.

Good read though and I'm glad you're taking the more humane route by trapping and giving them to the humane society.

If there is a crazy cat person on your street you should contact animal control and see if they can fine her/him for animal abuse (neglect). That might help in training the people of the neighborhood.

I don't want a dog here either. No pets at all would be just about perfect.

I am actually having fun and it is kinda like hunting, learning a skill and bagging the prey.

Good looking GS,,,,I have had a few of them. The last German cross was an Alaskan Wolf and German Shephard, fantastic animal. Hit on our one lane dirt road by a drunk (driving truck) dogmusher.

The move in process and the warm weather caused us to leave doors open for extended periods. The cooler weather has slowed this reality, but catch and released in a controlled environment is working and I am having fun.

Haven't been able to identify one source, it seems more of a "full spread" kind of cat targeting.

Thanks.

I just went on a cruise to Juneau and Skagway. We visited a dog sled camp and took a ride on a cart pulled by a team. it was pretty cool.

Was it the mushers name Fiedler?
Do you remember who it was?

Did you go up to the camp on the glacier (via helicopter)?
That's one helluva trip!

Anyway, back on topic...

didnt suggest you get a dog, suggested you adopt one for a few days. wont take long for the word to get out and the cats will stay away... problem solved and conflicts with the new neighbors kept to a minimum

Conflicts? You are probably right, again.....

But I have never been one to shy away from my responsibility and truly believe they should as well.

I am not publicizing my plight other than telling them each once their cats are a nuisance and are creating a problem. Interestingly everyone around me said similar things as "don't kill them just trap them". I heard them (in my head) all speaking about the neighbors cat. The one which, more likely than not, is their problem too.

I am being passive as the cats are quietly gonna go away. Of course the rumors and this thread don't help being anonymous, but some times a person just needs to be an adult. Sometimes it is best to simply ask nice and then do the right thing, or make these kinds of decisions and live with the consequences.

I guess I am as always willing to be me.

That is Linwood Fiedler on the Glacier trips. I have known him for many years as well as his son.
http://www.alaskahelimush.com/about/iditarod.html

Very neat guy. I accidently hit his lead dogs with my snowmachine trailer or sled. it happened just out of the checkpoint Ophir, in deep snow during the 1999 Iditarod (I think) . Didn't hurt the dogs but it was a very traumatic eventfor all 5 of us. He forgave me and we became trail friends from that meeting.

It was an older guy who did both the Ididerod (sp?) and the Yukon 1000? He was kinda famous or something.

None to show. I must have been making to much noise.

You see, I have been busting my hump fixing the Hot tub. At the first opportunity I grabbed a beer and spent the next few beers in hot water.

No cat either. Although there were casualties.

Trap is still set, awaiting the next contestant. As promised ASAP there will be proper pics.

New score.

cats 4.5 Gus 2.5 crap!

I caught a feral tomcat tonight, wow was that exciting. No picture.

The hole in the lawn from under the cage, the bent up cage and the exciting few moments of it trying to get at me made it quite memorable.

The cat was banging every part of the trap and screaming at me as I walked up to the trap. It tried to cut me through the screen, reaching out and swiping at me. I talked calmly and picked up the cage and it ran at the end towards me, forcing itself out the side, bending the trap and ran away rather quickly. I was glad to see that one get away.

I hope it taught it a lesson beyond how to avoid capture. I hope it learns to stay away.......

Your score is 2.5 crap?

I borrowed my dad's trap today, but I won't be able to set it for a week or so.

I'll teach the little furballs to walk on my cars (when they're in the garage!)

You're very welcome, it has become a fun attempt to see if I am smarter than a cat.

Ha Ha, the score is showing the proof. But these are smart cats.......
