Another New Bike........
So I posted rather quickly on the ZX14 last time and it lasted me all of 5 days.....so this time I have waited for 8 days and ridden over 300 miles....double what I had for the ZX14. I have about 300 more miles to go on the break-in and hoping to keep this one around for a long time!! Here is a pic......
Added Tech Spec grips on it before my first "real" ride.



What to add next?? I am looking at the police style crash bars in powder coated black and the GPS mount comes in tomorrow.....after that maybe aftermarket exhaust??

Man, as if that ZX14 wasn't a handful? Ready to take it over old man pass yet? I keed, I keed. That thing looks like its made to eat up the interstate! Would be my first choice if some long haul touring was in the plans.

Congratulations on the new toy. Those things are damn fast, as evidenced by the Boise LEO who caught me like I was parked one day.

Now, go wear out those factory tires and get a set of PR2's or PR3's on it so that you can really stick the tight sweepers.

It is funny you say that. After we went to Stonehenge we went over Old Man pass and it was a little un-nerving to say the least. I am looking forward to some long hauls on it. It was almost 300 miles and I wasn't sore at all like I was on the 'ol SV!

So far, I have the OEM tires scrubbed in pretty good but they are for sure not going to be as good as aftermarket tires!

Nice bike! A buddy of mine has a Concours and he loves it. I rode it once... it was surprisingly well balanced and I really didn't notice the weight that much.

Congrats! I've got a CBR1100xx Blackbird and been thinking about getting something new. Been thinking about Kawasaki Concours but the ZX14 is also tempting. I, too, would be curious to know more about it.

I love my PR3's.

A guy I work with has a Concours and he went to it after having a Busa and a ZX14. He mapped it, piped it, and did some other things to it as well. Needless to say he pulls the front end up like nothing on it now (bags and all). Let me know if you want to get in touch with him about some mods for it.

You can turn the ZX14 into a ST bike. It does everything you could ask, and some more.









Most of my friends also have BB's. I always liked the Connie and maybe someday I'll get one. But the ZX14 is a hoot!!!

Actually when I started my quest for a Sport Touring bike I had a sales guy suggest the ZX-14 for an alternative to the FJR and the Concourse. I ended up with the Sprint GT but it did have some interesting points for sure and for me I just loved that Triple sound...plus I kinda had a thing for Triumph's from buying the first bike. I wanted one then but was told I was a crazy person to get the Triumph instead of what I ended up with for a first bike!

Congrats! I have an 09 Connie. Very nice bike. She wears the Vance and Hines CS-One. Looks nice and sounds good. I have had her on a track( kind of an informal thing on the WSP training track) and getting ready to do a 2Fast track school (Beginner) on her June 6th.

She is a big girl, but once you know how to use the right amount of tenderness and muscle she will take your breath away in corners. She don't sweat much for a fat chick when it comes to going fast quick, and she is smoooth!

I took mine on a 5000 mile trip right after I bought her. Only problem I had was picking her up after I did a Zero Speed Peg Drag doing U-turn in In the Middle of F'ing Nowhere Colorado.

Fix the seat. I did a Corbin, but am not crazy about it. Also replace the front forks with a pair of ZX14 forks. Much better ride. It takes a little machining for the ABS sensor, but it is worth it! The only problem with doing this is that it will help you realize how crappy the rear shock is and you will want to replace it, so this can get expensive.

Watch the cap on the steering stem. It does not look very substantial, in fact it almost looks decorative, but if it loosens, things get weird. Mine was finger tight and was causing all sorts of odd things in the front end. It take a 12 MM allen. Your tool kit does not have one. Buy one.

Other than that, ride the heck out of her.

I will be honest.....So far this bike is incredible. I haven't pushed her yet since I am making sure I have a good comfortable feeling with her. I don't know about changing out the forks all just yet as I came off of a SV650 for the last 4 years and the suspension on the Connie is superb in comparison. I do know that I want to change out the seat and exhaust, but other than that I will probably keep her pretty much stock. I appreciate all the input from everyone as I always have ideas popping up.

As for the ZX14.....damn!! Holy Electronics Batman!!

Only what is necessary on the ZX14. There are no gimmicks, just tried and true electronics.

The picture is a bit deceiving, its a closeup and squishes the dash in the pic. Its an easier sight when riding.

But, you do long trips like I do, all is necessary. Especially the SPOT!
