Not sure exactly of your planned route, but I can only assume since you are meeting up in Battle Ground that you will be going to Cougar then possibly a gas refill at Eagle Cliff before going up to Windy Ridge. In that scenario you would not be heading to Carson unless you go that way on your return route.

MeRock could come up from Carson and meet you folks at Eagle Cliff. Alternately, depending on who wants to go with you from our area you could change the meet up spot to Washougal and go out 14 and head up from Carson after you meet up with him.

Are you sure they were asking for the Discovery Pass and not a Northwest Forest Pass? The reason I ask, is that according to the Gifford-Pinchot National Forest website, only the Northwest Forest Pass is required, which is not the Discovery Pass. To be honest, I never looked for any signs when I was up there to confirm the information on the GPNF web site. My understanding is that the Discovery Pass covers State Lands, and Windy Ridge is on Federal land.

Jk. That's actually a good question lol. "spirited" possibly.... I usually stick around the limit when conditions are slabby. But I like to pick it up in the curves but nothing too crazy. What are you comfortable with?

Meeting up in washougle sounds like it could be a better idea, especially cause I'd like to go up the hill from Carson. Where to meet in shougle though? I don't know it well.

Avoid the slabbing on SR14 to Carson. Go to Cougar and then over Old Man Pass and down to the campground. Turn around and run back up the hill. Eliminates a whole lot of boring road.

One person's fast is another person's slow and on this forum I would not touch that with a ten foot pole. Your pace will be moderate, with a designated leader and sweep, and you will wait for folks at all turn offs (so no one should have a need to ride beyond their limts). That should be vanillia enough to keep you or me from being flamed like a witch in salem.

So is everyone one good with meeting at the washougle chevron at 8 and going up through Carson? I know hwy 14 isn't super awesome, but its not THAT bad. Plus I will be on a new rear tire (hopefully) and that will give it a little scrubbin in time before we get to the good stuff. Hopefully I can find the one I want. It scrubs reaally fast.
