Need some help....

or a tool to borrow, actually. Chain rivet tool. Working on a bike tomorrow and I don't have one....and don't really want to spend 75-100 bucks on one right now. I will be buying one but it's not in this months budget. Please and thank you!!

I really should clarify...I need this saturday around noon if possible. Short notice, my bad.

I also read I can use the HF chain breaker as a riveter so I has options too.

to get the old chain off, u could use a sawzall...or grinder. and you could use a hammer and a punch to flare out the rivet for the new chain, just put something solid on the other side of the chain

Got a hammer and I think I have a cold punch that would work for this too. I'ma get everything together and see what works best. Thanks!

Rent/borrow something that would work from a local auto parts store? If not, then bump for a good guy. RK has been way more than generous before to this community of riders, hopefully someone can step up and pay back some karma!

I looked at O'Reilly's while I was there to get some wiring stuff....didn't really see anything in the rental brochure that would work. I've got the 10 dollar HF tool lined up. I really only need it to work once, but if I get more than that, great! Thanks for posting.

I just used the HF special to take off the old (532) and put on the new (520). Worked like a charm. Search YouTube for some helpful vids if you haven't already.

One my friends said he was at cycle gear today a chain rivet tool on sale for 30 somthing!

I'll look there too. I need one for myself so we'll see what happens. Are you sure it wasn't a breaker? The breakers on their website were cheap....the riveters were spendy.

He said it was the whole set for taking a part a chain and rivet it.. he said he let u barrow his but highly recommends buying the set while on sale. He showed me the whole kit he has. It's alina's husband that has it BTW

Hey Brett, If for any reason you don't get one tomorrow, don't sweat it too much. I can bring mine out to you tomorrow evening or Saturday morning. Just let me know if you still need it.
