Anybody else planning on heading over to the rally in Stevenson , Wa the 21-24th which is next week? It's across from Cascade Locks on the Wash side. Touring and sport touring 21-24th then dual sport and maxi scooters the 24-27th of Aug. I went to both last year on my Suzuki DR650 and really enjoyed it. Around 450 touring bikes with 14 crashes, 50 dual sport, 7 maxi scooters and 0 crashes. Whos the man?? I Camped out at the fairgrounds and the bikes were kept inside a paved cattle barn so they were out of the weather and guarded at night. Twisties galore, poker run, or you can just hang with friends and ride your own ride where ever you want. Some very beautiful country down there on either side of hwy 84.
If your camping out I learned 2 things last year.
1) After an all day ride a hot shower feels really great on the old tired muscles. When your standing there butt necked ready to get in the shower and you realize you left all your quarters back at the tent which is several hundred yards away, don't kick the wall just go get the quarters. Kicking the wall barefooted will make braking and/or shifting difficult for the next few days.
2) It gets worse. After hobbling out of the shower dripping wet with bruised toes it's really, really upsetting to realized you left your towel back at the tent also.
Don't ask.
