Nice to have you back Bordnbill. Dave said you had sellers remorse for your RC 51, and you had bought it back.

Dave knew from the day I sold it that I regretted it. For almost 3 years I missed that bike and finally, when I saw it back up for sale, I jumped on it.

It's a 2000 SP1. Not as plush as your SP2, but it gets the job done. Funny thing is, I've done all the mods on it. The guy that use to have it just put a new rear tire on. Not many mods, Powerbronze screen, Scott's damper, Moriwaki High mounts, PowerCommander with custom map, Speedo Healer, Corbin seat, Eurobike undertail, Pirelli tires, Vortex 15/41 setup, Galfer stainless front/rear/clutch lines, EBC pads and Vortex levers. I've done more visual mods to it than anything. Painted some misc. parts, rimstripes, things like that. I would post a pic, but I think Beans put a min. post requirement in order to post a pic. Either that, I'm just dumb and not finding it.

Gee...those are good mods! Hows the speedo healer? I'm in the market for one but have not researched it yet. Can you give a testimony on installation and set up?

Also, who did your custom map ?

So far, the speedo healer is great. I was within 1 MPH at 120. Installation is pretty straight forward for a Honda and the setup was cake. The instructions and the online converter are very helpful. From what I hear, the Honda's are in need of a speedo healer because the stock settings can be off quite a bit. I was reading 68 and real speed was 60.

Now as far as my map goes, I downloaded a Dan Kyle map for the RC51 and had it tweeked from a buddy that I know that does custom maps over in Woodinville. It wasn't far off, but the midrange was definitely in the need of some fine tuning.

Nice...I did visit the site and see that it can also be calibreated on a dyno. I have a 520 conversion kit with three up on the rear sprocket ready to put on the cbr but can see that the healer will be a needed addition.

With respect to the custom map, I had one made up by the shop in Bremerton. They gave me more peak hp, but never fixed an off-idle dead spot that's murder in town (full header with loss of power valve 00 cbr 929 rr). With my 1000 rr, Mike K (pro-tech dyno) spent the time and gave me a map that's strong across the full rpm range, no flat spots. I need to have the 929 re-mapped. Glad you found some one to straighten out your map, money well spent

Thumbs up New Guy
Hi gang, LearMechanic turned me on to the site and I've been lurking for a couple of weeks now, figured it was time to come out of the ether. Sold my previous bike twenty years ago and had been without since. Was planning to use the proceeds from a guitar sale to start an outside investment deal, but with the price of petro figured I could justify a bike instead. Anyway, just glad to have a saddle again and looking forward to meeting some new friends and putting on a few miles!

I like your nickname

Just be extra attentive during the next few months and practice skill-building exercises like low-speed turns, swerves and quick stops to re-acclimatise yourself.

Ride safe, ride often!

Thank you ma'am, like yours too, seems we may both be graduates of the ACME school of handle selection; just enough animal ambiguity to give the average roadrunner pause, if only for a moment. Thanks too for the good advice, all too easy to forget that every skill set should be rooted in basics. Seems the county too has rallied to remind me to be careful by re-graveling EVERY road in the vicinity of my house! (This is where the rolling eyes smiley dude would go if I knew what I was doin' here) Anyway, looking forward to riding off a few Dusty burgers this summer. See ya.

I sure hope so! Sometimes it is easier to lighten up the bike by cutting down on the Dustyburgers instead of spending hundreds on carbon fibre!

Nice, A speedo healer, and a new seat are my next purchases for sure, I've got a one under front sprocket and doing the math in my head trying to figure out how fast I'm going is getting really old. How do you like the Corbin seat did it make a very big difference? I've been debating Corbin or Sargent for a while now.

I love the SpeedoHealer. Didn't think about it much when I had the bike 3 years ago, but now that I'm wiser, I like it.

I dig the Corbin. Haven't ridden with a Sargent, so not sure on that. From what I hear though, some riders don't like the Corbin since it makes getting off the seat in corners somewhat hard, but I've never had that problem. Your ass is the last thing to worry about pain wise once you get away from that stock wood plank. Maybe do a search on RC51.org or Speedzilla. Those sites are more in tune with the 51.

Welcome Don. Lets look into a ride this coming up weekend? I should be back from Westport on Tuesday and back at work on Wed. Let's talk about the weekend and try to get a bike night going?

Sounds good to me. Might be my last week to ride after work for a while since I will be starting nite shifts next week. Saturday morning will be the best for me so I can try to get some sleep Sunday to work Sun night. Let me know if this will work for you. And anyone else that would like to join in... Let's hear it.

Hello, I am new to the forum. My wife and I live in East Wenatchee and love riding our motorcycles. We just got back from riding with another couple to Brian's Bulldog Pizza for some pizza and bowling. We are interested in the Thursday night's at Dusty's hope to see some of you there one of these next nights. This site is great. I plan on spending more time on here if I am able.

Welcome Trapper. I've only made a few Dusty Bike nights and they are fun. I always have too much stuff going on Thursdays to make it down, but I keep trying.

Thank you all for the welcomes. Yes, Breeze the wife and I both ride the 600's hers is the CBR and mine is the R6. She is actually responsible for me riding. I ride everyday to and from work so I am sure I see some of you out and about. If you see a Blue R6 on grant road it's probably me.
Thanks again for the welcomes. I hope to see some of you at Dusty's. We have been talking to the neighbors and might be bringing a group of people this week.

Hello, A buddy of mine told me to look at this fourm to see some write-ups and pics of some Death Valley dual sport trips. I didn't even know this board was around. I belong to a few fourms, but it's great to have one local.

Thanks for the welcome Breezebike. I'll ride any where but, the older I get the more I shy away from single track. My wife rides too and we'll ride fire, and County roads. I like Lake Wenatchee area (Goose Creek), Entiat area, Blewett Pass area, Devils Gultch, Mission Creek Trail. We ride around and above Antolon Lk and cross into the Methow, and look forward to heading down to Death Valley in March or April or 09.

Well since I work RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET...from Dusty's, maybe I will wander over this thurs and say hello and introduce myself. I am not much for street riding anymore as my KTM SMR is really set-up for the track with the slicks onit, but...I could put the treads onit this week and bolt the plate back on and zip across the street....anyone going for sure??

Hi all,

I used to post here and rode with the guys a couple of times about a year or so ago, but things got crazy with a new house, then pregnant wife. The kiddo is now here and things are starting to slow down so I thought I'd stop in and say hi.

I mostly ride my 2005 Honda VTX 1300 but I also have a 1990 Suzuki Katana 600 for the times that I feel the need to hit the twisties.

Welcome new people. I like your web site, 2by, but couldn't get the tour buttons to do anything. Not up yet? One of my bikes is the old Concours 1000. I'd be interested to know how you like the new one compared to the FJR.
