Local dealers?
I'm new to the area and am curious what dealerships people recommend? I'd prefer to stay away from the wet-side, but if there is a good deal, that is another story. Any good dealers local or am I going to have to travel to Tri-Cities or Spokane?

I am looking at new Honda and Kawasaki sport bikes.

Thanks for the info!

Wenatchee unfortunately only has one dealer that represents each brand. Therefore, competition is unheard of here. If you're looking for a new machine, I would head to the coast. I did when I purchased mine, and saved 2K easily. As for accessories jackets, tires, oil, etc. Same deal. The prices here are rock solid, and can be found in Seattle / online much cheaper. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about supporting the local businesses. Just not when they rip you off all the frickin' time. My 2 cents...

That's what it seemed like to me when I went to Wenatchee Honda. The two sport bikes they had were a little high.

Thanks for the reply LearMechanic.

Ps. If you truly are a Lear Mechanic, do you know anything about the flight schools in the area? I want to start my private pilot's license and don't know if I should go to Chelan or Wings of Wenatchee.

I worked for Wings when I started out wrenching. I already had obtained my pilots license from school in Colorado, which cost about 2k back then. Plus I got a 15% discount back then on aircraft rentals. I do know Wings does give discounts for block time: I.E. you put down a butt load of money, and get a discount. I've had no problems with Wings as far as quality. The owner, Al Hunter, is a great guy. I've also heard good things about the Chelan school too. Wings has a larger fleet of aircraft from 152's to a seneca I. Just depends on where you want to spend your money.

Flight Schools in Chelan (S10) v Pangborn (EAT)
IMHO if you are getting your VFR rating (the first rating), get it at the best airport you can. You'd be better off at EAT where there's an approach, private AND commercial aviation in operation, it's much more challenging. Little country airports are cool, but besides flying low to check for deer on the runway before landing, don't present much challenge (apart from learning to fly the airplane). You want to prep yourself for as much as possible. Plus, at the bigger airport there will be more, and different planes to fly (low v high wings, even at just your VFR level), better access to parts, tools, and probably bigger shops for fixin' those training planes- the workhorses of the general aviation industry.

I got my VFR and IFR at PAO, Palo Alto, CA, which sits around and under some of the busiest GA and CA airspace in the country. Three class Cs, Class B and countless Ds and Es. Approach control, vectoring, and IFR approaches. Anyway, you get the point.

If you want a Honda go to Chet's in Quincy,WA. Just tell them you are from Wenatchee and Wenatchee Honda didn't have much and would not deal. (They love taking business from the Honda stealership here in Wenatchee.) If you want a Suzuki then go over to Lacey,Wa to Paulson's Suzuki, really great people and easy to deal with. Don't know about the other brands.

Chet's Honda
I agree with Dogbone totally. I wont deal with Wenatchee Honda. Anyway, enough bashing on Wenatchee Honda. I bought my wife her bike at Chet's Honda in Quincy and Rob is who I have always dealt with. Rob is great and always helpful. This is assuming that you want a Honda of course. I mean Honda is the best right! (hehehe) Seriously, Chet's will treat you right. Sales and service.

As for service, well, plan on doing your own or your screwd in Wenatchee. I wouldn't trust any of the local stealerships with my daughters Schwinn. Especially Condotta's. I have a friend who's having to take Condotta's to small claims this month because of their less then scrupulous service department. I have heard nothing but bad about Condotta's. I let them change a tire for me once and they screwd that up and lost my speedo drive unit that was with the tire. They tried to tell me that it was never with the tire. Of course I stood their and made them look around the shop floor, and what do ya know, they found it. Never again.

Good Luck!

Viclava (scott?) of course, you can take any Honda to my shop. We ride (and bleed red :-)

And, unlike the dealerships, we are set up to work on new AND older bikes, and not just the brand new ones getting factory repairs. Cendottas sends us their custom work - we did a supermotar conversion for several of their dual-sport customers, etc.

Nothing against the dealership shops at all-there is plenty of work for all of the quality bike repair shops in this valley. The dealerships are in the business of selling you a new bike - and doing the quick, bolt-on and warranty work that's easy and OEM. That's their business model.

They just won't work on older bikes, or do the one-off custom work that some riders want. Nothing wrong with that-just not their niche. My shop is like others that work on all of the other bikes in the valley. We just work on alot more and different types that any other local shop- there are no other Buell, BMW or Ducati parts dealers besides us in the valley, for example. And nobody else specializes in supermotar, either. Those are just examples. Everyone has their areas.

That is good advice (makes sense) and that is probably where I will go. Good to know there are pilots around here!

Thanks to everyone for all their advice. I'll be buying a bike very soon and all the advice will certainly make for a more pleasant experience!

I bought my first bike from Enumclaw Suzuki/Kawasaki/Yamaha. I think it was a 89 Ninja 600RR. I bought it from Clem. Great memories.

Well I ended up with a 2007 Black GSXR600 from Shumate. So if you see me out, give me a wave.

Good Honda dealers
I bought my Goldwing from Chet's Honda in Quincy and highly, highly recommend them.

I have seen riders come hundreds of miles to have their bikes serviced there because they treat people well and do an excellent job. Their mechanic has worked there for many years and really knows his stuff.

Often you can read about horror stories where work done at another dealer wasn't done right, but my personal experience and the reputation of this dealer are a shining light on how to run a business.

The fairest dealer that I have found is CYCLE TOWN in Hermiston. If you are through looking at all the rest take a chance and give or stop by Cycle Town and see Tom or Tom Jr.

Ph # 541 567-8919.
If your looking for a Yamaha or Honda they'll have what your looking for, and if you get a Yamaha they will give a good deal on the YES warranty
