At what point, when asking for help or information, do you charge a fee?

Like the others requested, do you ride a motorcycle?

Thanks for all the replies
Thanks for all the interest. I have ridden a bike a few times, but that was before I was married and had a kid. Now the wife tells me it is too dangerous. I know riding can be safe, but when you know someone who was killed riding a motorcycle it makes it tough to convice the spouse that it's worth the risk. It's unfortunate that there are a lot of oblivious drivers out there - I've seen many of your posts in that regard.

I'm happy to answer most questions free of charge as I enjoy reading your posts and some of the LEO responses as well. Each case is different so prices vary when it comes time for representation.

I am coming up on my second year of practice; though I worked most of law school for another attorney. Unfortunately, ethically as an attorney I am not allowed to give success rates because it creates an expectation for clients that can't be guaranteed.

I am not a HYATT member, but I am a member of ARAG for the Microsoft people out there.

Overall, be safe and if you have questions about what to do when pulled over, suspected of DUI, in an accident, or are just curious about your legal rights let me know.

First off thanks, although why would you say such a thing?
Not arguing, but to use the I knew person who, excuse? You shouldn't be serious, if in fact you are.

Not a good thought unless it is the only person you have ever known who died doing what he or she loved to do.

Because;

I have known people who died driving a car, riding in a car, riding a motorcycle, skydiving, flying a plane, riding a snowmobile, eating a tunafish sandwich, and having sex.

The relevance of fear as the reason to stop any activity doesn't hold water, without comparing the people who out number the dead, who ride daily, yearly, for their lifetimes without close calls, accidents, tickets, or breakdowns.

Flying in large aircraft is more safe than sitting in your kitchen eating steak and eggs, but no one ever suggests you stop eating steak and eggs in your kitchen.

The same can be said about motorbikes. I take offense to the thought and the far to often and usual statement made as if it is a predetermined destiny to die on a bike. I call B*LLSH*T on that!

um, why do you have to judge how he viewed a situation? when it hits closer to home, it really hits hard.

give the guy a break. he's choosing his family over the risk that something could happen that he can't watch his kid grow up and grow old and stinky with his wife. it's a totally respectable reason. and a personal decision.

like when a girl chooses tampons or pads. are you going to berate a woman for using pads instead of tampons?

How many threads have we been through with the premise of what do people say when they see you ride?

It is the same thing, in fact it is poor form on a motorcycle website.

traffic tickets stay on your record for insurance companies for three years but stay on your record that other agencies may see for five years.

It's hard for me to recommend a specific insurance company b/c I've seen they differ a lot and I've heard just about all of them treating their insured's poorly.

Is there any truth in the idea if you send the state say $5 more than your ticket, they will send you a check for the rest, and if you don't cash that the infraction is never closed. Just got a ticket last night viewing all possiblities.
Thanks

I understand the discussion about riding and whatnot, but the overall purpose of this thread is to introduce a new Site Sponsor and elicit details on his services. Let's work to steer the conversation back that direction.

welcome!

I'm curious to know from the powers that be: Many of the ask an officer thread questions venture into area's that may be 'less cop, more lawyer'. Any chance of opening up that forum to include lawyer's responses?
Obviously, most questions do not, but there are those occasions when it the answer would be better served coming from a legal professional rather than an enforcement professional.
Just an idea.

To be fair, he did ask if we had any legal questions. He did it twice, in fact. Once in the title of the original post, and another here:

Very very cool. Good on ya for paying the sponsorship and offering to help. That goes a long ways in supporting the site here and shows you are serious about your business and reaching out to people.

Thank you.

are cops 'professional witnesses' when they are off duty?
not sure i want to say anything around them anymore after my eyes were opened on how many rights they have and how few we have, and the town BBQ is coming up soon.

here is one for ya. how long does the court have to notify me of a violated deferral? ticketed in September of 2005, went to court got deferral... apparently i violated it nine months later with another speeding infraction. sooo it is now September of 2009, on the 11th i got notice in the mail that the court wants 180 buck in 7days for that deferral violation,. also to top it off as i said 7 days to pay the fine, the document dated 21 august 2009......actually filed stamped 31 august 2009. and finally post marked on September 11 2009. how unfair is that. can they do that.....will pay you $200 to take care of this if possible. just to say to the court. i know it wont effect my insurance been three years but the point is why so long. are they just digging for money. also the violation case # is wrong. does this matter?
