I need Keihin FCR-MX jets.
I called Aurora Suzuki yesterday, where I picked up a small selection of main jets for my 39mm Keihin FCR-MX. They said that they had a #42 slow jet, but apparently didn't when I went down there today. So, I walked out of there with a new helmet for the girlfriend, and still need jets!!!

Here are the places that I've contacted:
  • Seattle Ducati
  • Aurora Suzuki
  • I-90 Motorsports
  • Eastside Motorsports
  • Puget Sound Motorcycles

None of them have any jets on-hand for my Keihin flat-slide, and I wasn't able to reach Adrian (SSU) via telephone. Even if I can place an order with Sudco, they won't sell less than four of each size. Further, the places where I can order them charge a lot of money for singles, and don't have other stuff that I can combine for better shipping rates. Does anyone know where I can find these locally?!

He can have them to you in a couple of days.

I'd rather not call Eddie. Besides, he's not exactly local. You may have seen my dyno sheets over there; if not, I'm working with Marty Dahl at Ducati Seattle.

Yup. His recommended jetting isn't as smooth as I'd like. In fact, my opinion is that it is marginally acceptable. The 160 main is way too big for a stock airbox (with 3x3" cut) and Yoshi RS2. I found my best results with a 152 main, where 150 was just starting to back down on the high-side and a little too lean at low RPM.

Here's my chart from late last year, last time I worked on it:

The chart shows stock, FCR/RS2 with 160 main, and FCR/RS2 with 152 main. There's not much that I can do about the rich-drift, since it's a flat-slide and coming off cam. I hope to have E-model cams and a base gasket installed before my next appointment, which is on July 25.

The EMN needle wasn't very steady during the road testing. This next visit will be mostly dedicated to road-testing, so I can see about getting away with the EMN or EMR; however, Eddie Odell is using an F taper, with fantastic results. The EMP on clip three may work in Denver, but an EMx needle on clip three doesn't appear the proper choice at sea-level. I want to see if I can't smooth things out with a slow-air jet, because that 45 slow is just really fat, off-idle.

Doesn't anyone know who stocks these?

Michael, is it the long Keihin pilot jet (slow jet), about 1" long, or the short one, about 1/2"? If it's the long ones, I have a bunch of 42s and could bring one to the party on Sunday. If it's the short one, all I have is another 45. It's been too long since I was inside my CRFs FCR and I can't remember which it uses?

N424-21... The Sudco catalog says they're 28mm long, 5mm OD.

Dude, if you've got a 42 for me, I'll just find some place to order the others. A 42 will at least let me tune in my idle circuit without a pilot-air jet. Please, bring one to the party!

Ultimately, I think I'll end up with a 35 or 38, using a 100 pilot-air.

Try my friend Chris Kelly, he runs a small Ducati parts and service business in So Cal and has parts for FCR's as he sell lots of kits from Sudco.

He didn't have any of the parts listed online; of course, that doesn't mean he doesn't have them. I found a place this morning, through another forum. So, I have the slow jets on order. I'll give Chris a call to see about buying some air jets and needles. Thank you, Dave!

Here's where I ordered my slow-jets: http://www.chaparral-racing.com/

Chaparral has most of the slow jets and main jets for the FCR-MX at $3.85 each. That's a ton better than CarbParts, though I can't comment on shipping. I had some other things to order, so I just put together enough to get free shipping. They seem to have better pricing than a lot of the online outlets that I frequent. If you need something right away, though, visit Dave.

That 42 worked great, Pete! Thank you.

Now I can get a lean-stumble from the engine, but that darned open pilot-air hole is still preventing me from getting a rich-stumble. I'm going to have to find a happy compromise with a pilot-air jet. Great meeting you today, and I look forward to having you at another of my parties.
