went down for the first time today..
i was riding earlier today by myself on ben howard roard out by sultan. i came up on the last hard left which you come at down hill then it sweeps to the left pretty hard. all i remember was slowing down a bit and leaning way over then i was sliding. i stopped and stood up before my bike came to a rest about 15feet off the road in some marsh lands. i was going bewteen about 45-50 which was a little to fast for the corner. i still dont know what caused me to go down though. afterwards i looked over the corner, it was dry, no gravel, and i had been riding for maybe 30 min so my tires should have been warm.

anyways im fine, a little sore but only a little bit of road rash on two of my fingers from my glove being torn open.

oh yea.......our bikes down like mud very much i had to get pulled out by a jeep

the frame slider took most of it. i lost a mirror, turn signal, some scuffs on the engine cover, and something in my tail light broke. i have to brake lights/ rear turn signals lights. not having fairings saved me a few $$$ today

Just fyi, 30 minutes in this cold weather doesn't guarantee that your tires are up to temp. That said, I'm not even sure if tries were really the cause of this accident. May have been part of the cause, but I wouldn't necessarily blame it all on the tires.

Could'a been worse bro.

i feel pretty lucky. i popped up right away. im not blaming my tires, especially since i have no clue what really happened. i just figured they were warmed up by then but maybe not. since i was by myself i didnt have anyone to see what might have caused it.

Glad your ok!!!

Was that the 10mph left turn? If it is, I watched my friend lose it there. Hit some gravel. His bike flew across the ditch and into a barb wire fence. He went in the ditch, thankfully.

Wow. Sorry to hear about your bike. I know that road fairly well. It has some gravel laden curves. Good thing you are okay. What were you wearing for gear?

im not sure if its the same one, i didnt see a barb wire fence but it might have been hidden in the tall grass. my bike was down in the ditch, i had to have a guy in a jeep pull me out.

way way way way too fast for that corner

for the street.

i believe thats a 10 mph corner, sign says.
45-50 is more then "lil" its impossible to take that corner that fast

i was able to ride it home still. a older guy on a cruiser followed me home since i didnt have any rear lights. my speedo was somewhere between 45-50. it reads high because of the gearing change, either way it was still too fast.

Sorry to hear it, man, but it looks like you got off with some busted parts and one helluva bike wash! Eeew. Haha.

My 2cents if you want em: Slow down and learn the road a little better before you hit it that hard. Also, make sure not to ride at 100% on the street (I know how tempting it is and I still have trouble sometimes). You want to have some performance left over for emergencies like this.

P.S. - Ben Howard is pretty infamous for stories like this. Don't be a statistic. Glad you're okay.

glad ur ok. ya 50 is a little hot for that one, especially cause its usually kinda dirty. not to say this was the cause for sure, but if ur gearing is a little on the aggresive side be careful kicking down before a turn and riding high in gear coming into the corner, a combination of that and cold pavement will do it.

I wrecked there January of '07. That corner is mad unforgiving, fortunately those marshlands cushioned my high side real nice like and I walked away just shaken and bruised.

There's a guy at work who's CBR929 looks just like that. It's got mud under the cracked tach, and mud all over everything else. I'm not sure how he keeps the mud on there after it rains but it's always muddy.

Glad you're alright, I can only hope when it's my time to go down I can bounce right back up.

an incident where you didn't become "damaged" is kinda like sex.

It is all about the dismount! Points should be awarded publically.

You would be a winner for bike points and sex thread title points combined.
