| Shredder Joined: May 2011 From: Tacoma, Wa I Ride: 2008 Buell 1125R | I did this on my Harley and my buddy on his Aprilla. Took approximately 8-9 hours to get to the Oregon/Cali border. Route was I-5 to Eugene--Head west from Eugene to 101/1---then south at that point. Took 101/1 all the way to the Golden gate Bridge. Dangers: going too fast just before the Redwood forest. Its a 4 lane highway with very minimal traffic. Its easy to want to bomb all through this part. ......Not paying attention IN the Redwood Forest. Lots of hairpin corners and if you're not paying attention you can become a tree ornament. GREAT RIDE THOUGH !! When I did it I was limited on time and need to do it again when I can take my time. I Wish I could go this time but not knowing if I have a job after September I have to hold off. Harley Davidson's website has a motorcycle specific route planner. I use it all the time.indicates gas stations, food, and hotels along a planned route. |
