| Endorsed | Gannonjf: I can't tell if you are being serious or not yourself, but to give you the benefit of the doubt (and maybe answer questions others may have who want to go on this ride): No, this probably won't be a noobie ride due to the hours on the road and all the twisties. Yes, this is subject to the weather. I'm not a fair weather rider, I'm just tired of riding in the rain (hail, snow, ice, etc. as I have) when I don't have to. But we should be good in late August and I really, Really, REALLY want to ride this route, so keeping fingers crossed. This will be a spirited ride, how spirited depends on who's in the ride. I've set a good pace that ducs were happy with, but I don't treat the streets like my personal race track. Rides like this I tend to do in what I call 'Sport Touring' fashion where we have the more spirited riders up front with me and the more casual riders toward the back. Before we make a turn after a long stretch, I make sure everyone's together before moving on. My experienced sweep will not leave anyone behind. I kinda like doing rides this way so everyone can feel comfortable riding at a pace they want and still feel like they are riding with a group. And if I'm going to slow for you, I have no problem with you jumping ahead and letting you know when the next turn's going to be. It's all about the ride! ![]() Lastly, to make sure everyone's on the same page about the ride and riding in a group, i do a pre-rode spiel before we head out. Sorry, no wheelies, no spin outs. Maybe on the Marauder 800, but not my 1600. ![]() HTH. |

| Endorsed | ![]() Thanks for the article, video and photos. Loved the photos and that post with the green one was funny, though it looked more shark like to me, but still cool. LOL.The starting time's noted in my original post, but it's just an approx. It will be set once we decided on a starting place. I'm not big on early morning start times, but will bump it up an hour or 2 (ugh...) if I have to. We have some other rides (Mt St Helens, Trike Flying/Cascade Loop, Vancouver Island, etc.) we're working on that's happening before then (and after-such a busy summer), but want to get things finalized about a month or so before the ride. Appreciate that you want to 'bury the hatchet'. I didn't get your PM, please resend. Though I joined this forum in 2009, I just returned after about a 2-3 hiatus and don't really know the members well enough to know when then are being serious or teasing. So some of my replies may have appeared being a smart-ass when I was actually replying to comments at face value. Also some of my events are copied/posted on other forums and I haven't changed the wording specific for this audience, but I don't like to assume. Anyway, I do appreciate you cutting me some slack, and if you see me at Backfire this Wednesday, do say 'hi'. At 6'0", I'm hard to miss. |

| Endorsed | UPDATE The meeting point and time are now set: 8/25 11am Paradise Lake Shell 21525 Bostian Road, Woodinville, WA Arrive gassed up (or early to gas up there) and ready to go. Planning to have have 1 gas stop which include a snack break, so bring something with - not planning to stop at a restaurant, but can all grab a bit after we get to Blaine before people head back. This route says it's 150 miles, 5 hrs. Sorry, link still too long to post but see highlights of roads we'll hit in the original post. Have cut out the High Bridge section in part because I've heard it's chip sealed/gravel and a 10 MPH limit posted. The other part was that I needed to trim it a bit. It's all good. This is not a novice ride. Last edited by Diva; 08-21-2012 at 12:01 PM.. |

| Endorsed | Yeah the deal is done and I also heard the cruise is sold out too, but you can check via that deal link. Island Mariners I think is the tour company. And remember the ride is Saturday the whale watching is Sunday, so you'll need to get a room if you want to stay over. Mine's full. Hope the weather holds getting a little better than what it was predicting before. |

| Endorsed | Also want to clarify, 11am is KSU time (kickstands up). People are arriving at 10:30 with a pre-ride spiel about 5-10 mins before we leave, to make sure we are all on the same page about group riding. Last edited by Diva; 08-23-2012 at 09:52 AM.. |
