I couldn't agree more. Let's see...KSU in Renton @ 8:30 = Cook Rd. Shell @ 10:30 (If you slab it, add 45 mins for SR-9) = KSU Marblemount Chevron around 12:00. And you're not even climbing yet... Y'all gonna get HOSED BAD on RV and boat-trailer traffic. Not to mention LEO with their mid-day ears pricked up. I strongly recommend an earlier start...MUCH earlier! FWIW - For SR20-to-Winthrop "breakfast runs," we aim to depart Bellingham no later than 7:00...and it's a much shorter-and twistier-run from up North.
