| Endorsed | Indeed. Had someone break into my Tahoe. (right in front of my townhouse) on July 3rd between 3 - 5am. Stole all my stereo equipment, digital camera and a few othe misc. items. Cops basically told me I was S.O.L. Hope you find your bike all in one piece. |

Hopefully you've got access to a few more resources than the rest of us to help you track these shitbags down. I'm sure a few missing taser cartridges won't make very big waves... ![]() |

| Chicken Strips | Diesel - The prosecuting attorney is who tells the cops what to follow up on. A couple years ago theft charges to be followed up were raised to $10k or more. So anything under that is not worth pursuing. The only way to get this changed is to put pressure on your district government so that the rules can be changed. Posted via PNW Riders Mobile |

| Newbie Joined: Jul 2009 From: Seattle, WA I Ride: Bike Stolen 7-19-12 | When SPD showed up, he had pre-filled out the police report and I told him I had them on camera. His response was "Well you may know what they look like, but I have just as much of an idea of who they are as you do. We just don't have the man-power to investigate all the reports we get." I can sort of understand his point of view, but it still sucks. You'd think a detective would be working on all the motorcycle theft and would appreciate some fairly clear footage of these guys at work. I guess not... |

| Chicken Strips | Yeah unfortunately SPD doesn't want extra work. Basically the officer will fill out the report and pass it to an investigator. Sounds like the dude was a douche. He should have been happy to take your footage with him. Could have helped the investigator who is assigned to all the theft cases to maybe tie some problems together. One thing you could do is contact the SPD and ask to speak with a detective since you have more evidence for your case and the officer that showed refused to take it. Sounds like a lot of work, but may be worth it to them. Posted via PNW Riders Mobile |

How did they open that gate? What was that long tool used for? Did they break the steering lock on your bike and just roll it outta there or throw it in a truck/van? This ish makes me wanna go under cover and find the underground motorcycle chop shop master warehouse. ....anyway - sorry to hear about your bike. Having it in a fenced area like that would be enough for me to sleep OK, or at least it would have... |

I wish most of us with follow my footsteps and set-up a night vision cam if plausible, so we can finally catch this guys. I'm updating mine to full DVR night vision cam ($400), and this time I'll be able to catch their plates But I highly doubt they'll come back for mine.Good luck brother! |

It wasn't until the problem really escalated that the police REALLY did anything that was super proactive. What wound up happening, is this became an obvious repeat deal, so once the $$$ started to add up, it got noticed and they put a lot more man power into it. They eventually found the operation and shut them down. I've seen this with construction tools too. And metal (copper etc..) Unfortunately, there are people out there who make their living by preying on other people. So, this would be my unreasonable statement to the cops: "This is my attempt to do things the correct way. If you are unable to help me, I have footage and pictures of these guys. I also have a lot of friends, and online media that can help me find them. Not all of my friends take kindly to things being stolen, and I'm am simply working toward getting my motorcycle back. So, if you could in any way track these guys down before my friends do I would really appreciate it." |

I will update this thread as soon as the videos are uploaded. |

| Newbie Joined: Jul 2009 From: Seattle, WA I Ride: Bike Stolen 7-19-12 | I spoke with my insurance agent and their special investigations unit wants to see the videos. He also suggested that I contact the King County Sheriff's Department because they have a task force that handles motorcycle/auto theft for the county. I'll let you all know what happens with that. My hope is that I can get a detective that knows these guys but needs the evidence for an arrest. |
