My Comcast rips. For those with Comcast and their own cable modem, what brand? I have a dd-wrt router and AP. Never thought to replace the cable modem.

Very Fast. My wife also calls and haggles with them to keep their introductory rates......she lives for that shit and they constantly cave in.

Log of my Comcast stats recently

https://reporting.samknows.com/repor...4b5beeb7858982

Pretty typical results. Spike in Packet Loss due to my taking system offline.

If you live in a big condo/apartment building, try to have Condo Internet come to you. Blazingly fast.

i spend $80 a month on internet/tv bundle. i have digital economy TV and their blast internet. i get an average of 35meg downloads from seattle and around 5 meg uploads. i dont recall the model number but im using a Motorola cable modem with the DOCSIS 3.0software (what is needed for PowerBoost).

yea i know comcast is faster but it matter where u live.might have the fastest speeds but the go 40 ft across the street and all u get is dial up.ill be moving to a nicer place closer to downtown and hopefully have more money to splurge by then and get a top of the line package deal

Well, like ALL companies...they lure you in with promotions....And promotions end, and you go to the normal rate...like all the other companies out there.

Play they game, call them up and tell them you want to disconnect (Don't worry, they'll try to keep you) and get on another promotion, or pay the normal price.

That said, comcast will have the fastest non-contract unlimited internet in the area. Supply your own modem/router to save a few bucks (I like netgear, but anything docsys3 works).

If you're looking for something mobile, clear isnt bad. You'll be lucky to hit 6mb and you'll be paying around $50 a month for it, but they're all over the damn place. I hear rumor that clear is setting up 4G LTE.

Verizon's 4GLTE is nice, but its limited now. No more unlimited plans :(

FIOS is stupid fast (if you wanna pay for it & sign contract). We have that at work, and I hit 25 mb down AND up...And we're running 8 computers.

Long story short, I've been running clear for awhile now. No contract, and has served my just fine for 2 people playing online games, streaming movies and music. $50 a month with no hassles is pretty decent to me.

so future reference DO NOT go with century link!!!!

i had comcast in california and if was so fast it was scary, not to mention very reliable and it was worth the $50 a month.i would have 2 laptops 2-8 or 10 phones and a xbox 360 connected without a glitch.

but i had to cancel my contract when i got up here cause they didnt offer fios in washington state yet me so confused but that was about 2 months ago
maybe the operator was confused, ill get it again if i could

There is FiOS in WA. I've had it for the past 3-4 years. $60/month [linky]
Was offered first with Verizon, then Verizon sold the FiOS off to Frontier. Much more reliable, even speed, up and down over Comcrap.

Uh comcast DID cut the wires. They did that to my place too. I just ran a new line into the kitchen myself. It super simple to do and cost me nothing. The customer is responsible for everything INSIDE the home. CLink is only responsible for the line coming to the box.. To have them wire it for you is extra.
