Chatterbox: Channel for All PNWRiders: 02/06
Alright,

Seems like many people are finally starting to get chatterboxes! Awesome! I have had one for over 3 years and love it...but since moving up here it sux since whenever i see someone who has one, they are never on the same channel as me. In Los Angeles, the local socal riders forum, hollywoodbikenight, everyone used the same channel. So i propose, everyone use 02-06 as the PNWRiders.com channel. Easy to remember and if you ever are riding and here somone talking, you will know they are a pnwrider and can say hi or if you are looking for more riding, join and ride!

02-06 PNWRiders Chatterbox Channel.

(edit to channel 02-06)

Why not a lower channel like 2-06 like the area code for the Seattle area? It can also work with handhelds for instance when you guys do your big ride to Yakima and have cages following as support vehicles they can hear you and talk to you as well. Just a thought.

on 206. Be warned that I know quite a few riders that use 2-06 and are not on here, so it may not be exclusive tp PNW.

Is there a communicator that will let me tune in to chatterbox, autocom, and collett channels?

All my buddies use different systems, so I haven't bothered to get one at all.

Chatterbox is standard channels. Do the others support regular channels?

Yup, everyone and their cousin around here uses that channel.

If you want something exclusive to the PNW riders, I highly suggest coming up with something other than 206 in any order.

206 is a common channel for bikers and trucking companies. I get all sorts of random squaking on my chatterbox when I'm on 206. I don't mind though. I like to fuck with them...

Here's a couple. These are the X2s but would still work on 2-06 and are way cheaper.
http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/mcy/350014765.html - Brand new $100
http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/mcy/352842842.html - Lightly used $130

And another one http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/mcy/351235552.html - Brand New $150.

There was a brand new X1 for $190 a couple of days ago, but it's gone now.

Yep I was between Mill Creek and Renton off and on this evening, heard one person on the channel but the signal was pretty scratchy... maybe out of range. Other than that it was silent.

Will be fun to mess around w/them on upcoming group rides though.

How about the other chatter box with only 2 channels and no sub channels? Can they hear 2-06? I have that one for a while but I never used it.

Well, since no one actually proposed another channel, I will.

PNW is 769 on my phone. I have no idea if that can equate into a channel (i have no box of chat), but it's just as arbitrary as any other channel but wouldn't mean anything to anyone else but us, I'm sure... 206 is kinda, well.. duh.

Now that I think about it, that's kind of stupid, 769 can't be a channel. Nevermind...

If your radio doesn't have sub-channels, you can get on 2-06.

Don't know why everyone thinks 2-06 is a good idea. Only if you wanna hear people you don't know yackin' it up constantly, especially if you live in the Seattle area.

Listening to n00bs hot-mikin' on 2-06 all day isn't my idea of fun. Make it that much harder to enjoy one's tunes.

Usually, the idea is to try and pick a completely random channel... and stay away from local "area codes" all together.

It's really great to hear someone yelling, "holy shit, WATCH OUT!!", and have that guy be 3.5 miles East of you on a different hwy, or worse, little kids on their "local area code" channel speaking in Ebonics on daddy's pair of 2-way radios.

Just my .02.

to that. i stay away from 2-06 truckers in the area use it to.

so should each group also be assigned their own channel so that the individual groups can chat and not having 200 people and 15 groups chattering it up on the same channel? seems like it could get confusing.

I've been riding with 2-06 on for a couple fo weeks now and rearly hear anybody on. Actually, yesterday was the first time I actually picked up somebody's transmission. I used to ride with channel 7 - 00 on and I could hear somebody every few minutes or so. 2-06 is not bad at all.

It is a good idea to assign a channel for each group.
