24mm Hex Wrench anyone?
Does anyone have a 24mm Hex Wrench (or box spanner) that I can borrow for, well, just a few minutes in the greater Seattle area? I need to torque up my front wheel but don't have this tool and would rather not wait until next weekend to ride the thing.

Please let me know! PM me

Thanks

Go to the hardware store and buy a bolt with a 24mm head on it. Then buy two nuts that fit on the bolt. Lock them against each other and you have a tool that will allow more than enough torque to tighten your axel. Cost should be under $4.00, tax included.

That is exactly what I told him to do this morning. He first messaged me at like 8, "Do you have a 24mm hex?" I was still sleeping and phone woke me up, so I just responded with "No" around 10: I finally woke up and messaged him with that solution.

Always works in a bind.

Great minds think alike, scary huh?

I think 15/16" wrench would work also.

I Ride: When I can
Some options...

TOP: Inverted spark plug socket on an extension (you can use a torque wrench on this too)

Middle: Store bought Motion Pro wrench (torque wrench this one as well)

Lower: Home made socket using 'Hex stock and a socket'

For a couple of years I used the 'Hardware bolt, double nutted'
It worked well for me as well.
These are options to try, too.

use the spark plug wrench out of your tool kit. a lot of times, it can be used as an allen wrench for the axles.

My dad has a whole set of Home Made socket cap allen wrench sockets, well mix and match of things from over the years, but it has always been cheaper to go to wherever, buy allen wrenches, then the sockets, cut the 90' off, then drill and drift pin the bitches in.

Ya I actually had thought of this... but all of the sparkplug sockets I found (in my toolset and at shucks/napa/action auto parts) had the inside rounded and you couldn't get an extension through.

Oh well, I got it all torqued up and finally took my gixxer for its first ride in five and a half months!
