| Railer ![]() Joined: Dec 2005 From: Seattle, WA I Ride: '04 Moto Guzzi Stone | Don't feel bad - it happens to a lot of people. I did something like this a week ago, at a rest area just north of Eureka, CA. I pulled in to the rest area and stopped. My left cuff had gotten caught up in my shifter. I could not put my foot down, and by the time I realized what was happening the bike was too far over to do anything. No damage to me (other than damaged pride), but I did snap off my clutch lever. After contemplating the possibility of it taking a couple of days to get parts, I did a quick field repair with QuickSteel and the repaired lever held all the way back to Seattle. The new replacement lever has a section about 2/3 of the way out where it is designed to break instead of letting it break at the pivot point. |

| Endorsed Joined: Feb 2006 From: Seattle - Beacon Hill I Ride: Mean Streak || GS500 | I'm much more stupiderer than you... Last summer, I was riding my Mean Streak around all day and was nearly home. I was tired, hot, hungry, and most importantly, stupid. While I was impatiently waiting for a light to change, I decided to put the bike in neutral, drop the kick stand, take my hands off the bars, and throw my feet up on the pegs. When I put my left foot on the peg, I missed and hit the shifter, which shifted it into 1st... The bike shot out from under me, rolled over, and died. When I fell off, I rolled into the oncoming side of the street right when the light turned green. People in the cars behind me just laughed... Oncoming traffic was nice enough to wait for me to get out of their side of the street before driving on. Luckily, I was able to pick the bike up and roll it out of the street. No damage to me, and I only bent the left peg a bit. Your mistake was an honest one, mine was an idiotic one... ![]() Feel any better? |

I have, countless times, almost dropped my bike by putting the kickstand down, and having the cuff of my pants catch on, and slide down the shifter. Most embarrassing drop I ever did, was when Tokin was still living in the Quah, and I was backing out of his driveway (Which is a pretty steep hill), and I tapped on the back brake a bit to much, front end came up a bit, and over I went :p Ooops Only parking lot drop I did, was funny as hell. I managed to park in a nice spot of oil. We started to go, back end just slide completely out, and the bike went down, I still had one leg down, and I just lifted the other, and the bike literally spun 180 degree's below me. I just kinda looked at it wondering htf that happened. Was funny as hell :p |
