Exclamation **COPS** on Ben Howard Rd !!
****COPS on Ben Howard Rd in Monroe*****

I rode Ben Howard 3 times yesterday with a few buddies with not one cop spotted. On our last go around later that day, we came around a curve only to find an old man halfway in the street yelling at us to slow down. Apparently it seemed he had gotten fed up with all the speeding bike that had been flying by his house all day. Anyways..

I past him and proceeded to slow down out of general courtesy, and as I looked in my mirror, my buddy who was bringin up the rear of the group was just now passing the old man, the man ran out INTO the road and swung at my buddy, trying to grab him off his bike.

About 5 mins down the road we decided to pull over for a smoke and to regroup. We assumed he probalby called the cops and it would be a good idea to sit and wait for a bit. And what do you know, sure enough, within the next 5-10 mins, not 3, not 4, but a total of 6 cops passed us as we sat on the side of the road.

Needless to say we went the speed limit the whole way back now that there were 6 cops posted randomly all down the road. So jsut wanted to give a heads up to everyone, I know that is a favorite road of a lot of us and gets well traveled on weekends like this. Be careful..

thanks for the heads up. no cops when we ran it today. however i did see an angry looking old guy with a big beard sitting out by his mail box. he was in camo pants and olive drab green jacket. we were only doing 45-50 (kpm of coarse) when we passed him. he looked a lil of his mind kinda like he was contemplating something stupid. He seemed to live there, its about 1/3 mile in from hwy 203. same guy?

btw you missed out on all 5 bomb roads out there with us today.

Yep he got a ear full of the ARATA last time I rode the CBR on that road. Riding slowly he tried to stand in the middle of the road and stop me, F$%# him. I don't ride that road anymore, too much crap.I went to the track a month later. Didn't realize I rode so slowly, till then!

I ran it yesterday, but I took it pretty slow, almost speed limit slow except in the corners. No cops to be seen, no old man, not even gravel in the corners.

Ever since the first good set of corners was ruined by road construction I just can't bring myself to rail that road. Well, that and all of the wrecks I've seen there.

I almost went out to Ben Howard yesterday, but by the time I got to Monroe via Woods Creek, I was running later than I had planned, and I didn't want to take the extra time to ride out to Sultan. So I just went on to High Bridge instead. Sounds like I missed all the "fun." Not that I ever ride that fast on those roads, I just enjoy the ride.

on that! Unless the first run is safe an sane checking for cops and road conditions. Thats why I love going on Krukov rides: guy gets up EARLY MORNING to prerun roads, then gets to the meet point and redoes them with us. I dont have that kind of conviction myself... or is it "motivation"?

Ha ha, I was up there last week and I think it was the same old man, he was shaking his fist at me as I sped by, and did not look happy. Also about a month or 2 ago I was riding ben howard/high bridge and an undercover impala, all black came flying up behind me with his lights flashing out of no where, right after setting down the front wheel, I pulled over immediately and he blew right by me toward another pack of bikers further up, I then flipped a U turn and rode high bridge all the way back to 2 just in case he was waiting for me up ahead. All this said, I think im done with that ride, too blown up.

I've never ridden said road and most likely won;t. That being said with all the attention it gets from riders as well as upset residents of the area who are pissed enough to endanger themselves as well as riders doing things like "riding it 3 times" presumably over the speed limit why continue to do it?
I'm no angel when I ride and I;m not trying to talk down to anyone. Just be smart when you ride.

I too don't get all the attention that riders shower on Ben Howard. It is a nice road, true, but it aint THAT great. Actually rather short... There is plenty of other way less inhabited roads in Snohomish County if you just head north up Hwy 9. Hell, Hwy 9 is decent in spots.

We choose to run the public twisties for 3 main reasons:
1. It's convenient. Even if you are lucky enough not to have to drive 1 1/2 hours to get to a racetrack, the fact is motorcycles are only allowed on-track on very few select days. You CANNOT just show up whenever you get a few free hours and do some laps.

2. It's relatively free. Barring the tickets we know we will eventually get, it's still ALOT cheaper than the $200 average that a day at the tracks costs. Not to mention the costs in brakes/tires...

3. The nearly unlimited variety the street provides. Whether you choose to go hit the Peninsula, Hwy 2 to Winthrop, or Mt. St. Helens, good and unique roads are simply a few hours away. Racetracks are the same corners, over and over again. Great if you want to go for a track record or show up someone who has never ridden your track before, but you could get carpel tunnel syndrome from the repetitive corner motions. Sorry track guys, I couldn't resist!

my .02 = I personally dont even ride twisties on the street hardly at all anymore but for fucks sake DO NOT run the same road up and down. It's the fastest way to get a ticket and get a road locked down by fuzz.

Hell...I think we ought to have a newbie ride out to Ben Howard and High Bridge. Show em the "proper" lines and brake points and all. Show em the ropes, so to speak. Hell....We could make a bike nite out of it.

Or better yet, why don't we just show them how to get there 60' times down and slam n stretch there bikes to 66" so that they can sit in parking lots and bench race. Hell, the streets are just plain dangerous and scary anyways so lets just make our bikes "track only" and stick with driving in a straight line... We could even give out trophies to the guys who can get there bike to the shut-down lane the fastest! Watch that tricky turn onto the return road though...

What's that got to do with people being complete asshats on B/H Rd anfd High Bridge?
So you think it's OK to straif those roads a couple three times a day? Just give the big "Fuck You" to the folks that live there and get to put up with your shit day after day?
That what you're sayin here?

whatchu talkin bout Willis? we rode it on saturday, that was the road i told everyone at the gas station i had got word about cops so we went pretty slow....

FYI It was the road that was still really wet compared to the others we rode that day....the one where i hit gravel and fish tailed a left bend and pushed my front tire on another down hill left bcuz of wet pine needles.
