Today I was planning to get 200 or more miles on it, but mechanical difficulties (not my bike) shortened the ride. I did get the miles up to 114 miles earlier today despite the challenges. I will be adding more miles on it tomorrow. |

Edit: I put that image in The GIMP and enhanced it and can now see a reading of 25776 on the odometer. Next time, please try to pull that cable out of the way when you snap a pic. | Superbiker Joined: Aug 2006 From: Everett I Ride: One bike at a time | Since this is tracking odometer based miles it would seem that bikes with modified gear ratios should be calculated based on the non-stock gearing. If bike 'A' has stock gearing and bike 'B' has an 8% larger rear sprocket, bike 'B' would record more miles for the same distance traveled. If bike 'A' records 100 miles, bike 'B' would record 108 miles. Over 1000 miles the difference would be 80 miles. For 10,000 miles if would be 800 miles. I know this is all for fun so it really doesn't matter, but it would be more interesting if all miles were recorded based on a stock bike. Yes I know most bikes are 7-8% off from the factory, but that's not the point. |

For what it's worth, my bike is using the stock gearing and the odometer is approximately 3% optimistic (traveling 30 miles registers as 31, therefore 100 miles would register as 103.3). Therefore, I am at a disadvantage when compared to other bikes with their 7-8% gains. | |
