I Ride: but not on the street.
(Dont mean to tell your story for you Will)

We were getting on the freeway outside Yakima. I was the first one on and I couldnt find the other two guys in my mirror, so about a half mile down the road I pull over (there was a lot of traffic and I figured they were catching up). So, I get on the shoulder and see Leo Lights...I figure theyre not for me because I was doing 50 on the freeway. I stop and take a good look and see Matt's (kawa6m) bike behind me. I thought he was getting a ticket. Figured he was speeding to catch up to me. Then I realize I cant see Will's (dogmeatk) bike. I start wondering if he went down? Matt comes back to me, I get off my bike and see Will's in front of the car. Matt tells me they just read Will his rights and cuffed him. Turns out he did a wheelie on the on-ramp. Long story short (Im rambling) they let him go with a negligent driving (2) ticket.

It wasnt for speeding, I rode a wheelie down the on-ramp and the cop was sitting under the overpass right below me.

That's crap. BS getting that kind of ticket for a little wheelie. I wonder where the WP draws the line? It's not very hard to get the wheel up unintentionally speeding up on an onramp.

I don't know why I said that, just protecting the wheelie machine. Everyone gets caught doing something stupid every once and a while.

I told her its smarter than speeding, because you dont do a wheelie as long as you speed....

oh yeah that was almost the best part. well, the cop was pretty nice to me at first. this is how it went.

cop: "Do you know why I pulled you over?"
me: "Ummm no ..."
(I thought he was too far back to see my wheelie)
cop: "For riding that wheelie down the on-ramp. Do you remember that?"
me: "No, I didnt feel anything."

then he told me to turn around and spread my legs. cuff cuff and then he took off my helmet and practically strip searched me. I guess he didnt like my answer but I learned the hard way that you NEVER admit guilt when you get pulled over ... it doesnt hold up well in court.

Basically, what you say is true and it's also no very hard to speed, it's not very hard to drive aggressively, it's not very hard to pass in double yellow lanes....get my picture...as far as the WSP are concerned...if your front wheel is off the ground...you have no control of the bike...no control of the bike most of the time means a reckless driving ticket...your friend got lucky.

I havent found a lawyer yet .. I was waiting to see if anyone had a good one for me. I will call around tomorrow and look in the yellow pages. I would think that if you intended to get the front wheel off the ground and accomplished it, you obviously have pretty good control of the motorcycle.
