Patriot Guard Riders Memorial Mission - Sgt Jason A. Shaffer, 28, Hood River, OR, 19
Should there be no conflicts in schedule, I will be riding down for this mission.

I will stage in Toppenish for anyone from the Yakima Valley, Yakima, Ellensburg or behond, and heading down 97 to Biggs then down 84 to Hood River.

I am working with a RC(Jerry, bubbabear) out of Tri Cities to lead a group from there, and meet up with us at Biggs, Anyone from furthere east or south, We will be loooking to hook up with you either at the interchange in Umatilla (I82/I84) or at Biggs

We will post rally points and times as the date gets closer and the time of the service is posted.

The following is the announcement from the Oregon State Captain for the PGR

We have a CONFIRMED MISSION for a Memorial Service for Sergeant Jason Shaffer, United States Army on Saturday, May 19, 2007 in Hood River, Oregon. Mrs. Shaffer has asked that we participate with a flag line at the Hood River High School Memorial Service. She has also invited us to share in a meal in Honor of Sgt Shaffer.
The DCs for this Mission will be: Gary Everett and Chonga
The RCs will be announced at a later time.
The wife of Sgt. Jason A. Shaffer has graciously invited and requested the participation of the Patriot Guard Riders in her husbands services. She informed our Oregon PGR that Jason loved Harley's and would that she love to have the bikes as part of the services

DoD Identifies Army Casualty


The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc Jason A. Shaffer, 28, of Derry, Pa., died April 5 in Baqubah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when a vehicle-born improvised explosive device detonated near his Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Shaffer was assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

This service is expected to be early afternoon (we should have final times by tomorrow) as such we are anticipating
needing to be in Hood River by shortly after noon.

Anyone who wants to meet up for the ride down, I am planning on meeting at the Toppenish Safeway 711 W 1st Ave, I will be there by about 9,
If you wish to join us try to be there and gassed up by 9:30. Hoping to be on the road by 9:45 ish.

Jerry(Bubbabear) will be riding down from Tri-Cities, He is leaving from Exxon Station at 27th Ave and Hwy 395 in Kennewick, Across 395 from Wal Mart.
He will likely be there by about 7:45, If you wish to join in pease be there and gassed up by 8:15, After a briefing, Jerry hopes to be on the road by 8:45.

He will make a short stop at the Umitilla interchange between 82 Rt. 730 Exit 1 in Oregon off I 82) accross from the truck scales at the resturant (Approx 10 minutes around 9:15) before heading on to Biggs.

Both of us intend to stop at Biggs to top of Gas tanks, have some water/coffee etc. This will probably be a 20-25 minute stop. We hope to be back on the road to Hood River by 11:25.

The above time are subject to change, based on final time of staging when posted by the Oregon PGR Ride Captain, but we believe them to be close.
